What are VanPoints?
VanPoints are the internal currency and points system created by ExchangeyourVan to make organizing van exchanges even easier and more flexible.
How does it work? Very simple:
Every time you lend your van to another member, you earn VanPoints. Later, you can use those points to travel with another member's vehicle, with no need for the exchange to be reciprocal or simultaneous.
How exactly does the VanPoints system work?
Steven, from Oslo, wants your van for Easter. You don't need it those dates, and you already know his area by heart. You lend it to him anyway — and get VanPoints in return.
Spend those VanPoints whenever you like: this summer, in Laura's motorhome, through French Brittany. Or on any long weekend, in Matías's van, through the Italian Alps. You decide when and with whom.
How can you earn VanPoints?
By hosting other travelers in your van.
Lend your van to other members and earn VanPoints — that's the essence of ExchangeyourVan: you share your vehicle to travel with someone else's, with no money involved. The more you share, the more you travel, and along the way you meet people as obsessed with travel as you are. You also earn VanPoints by referring new members or helping design routes for the community.

When you lend your camper to other members of the community, they give you a number of VanPoints per night as thanks for your hospitality.
What determines how many VanPoints you receive?
The number of nights of the trip and the VanPoints value assigned to your vehicle. The longer the exchange lasts or the better equipped your van is, the more VanPoints you earn to travel!

VanPoints have nothing to do with your van's market value, rental prices, or the market.
They're a way to thank hosts for the time and care they put into preparing their van and welcoming other travelers.
